Make a photograph that illustrates a role of technology in your life.
Have not been actively using my camera as my iPad has taken precedence. But after taking a camera class this past weekend and with the change in the weather, maybe I can get back into some kind of routine. Had the kids this weekend and thought about how technology is so much a part of their lives. Of course their dad is not too thrilled with the two of them using these technical items. But it does keep them occupied when you want a break from "grandma, play with me." I love the fact that even though little C is not a big talker he sure knows how to say "ipod".

Monday's Assignment

Make a photograph that illustrates the idea of freshness to you.
I've had a clothesline up forever but I hardly ever use it anymore.  I know that lots of people like the smell of laundry that's been dried outside.  I could never get into that or the feel of it.  So often linens felt stiff after drying outside.  I took a class this weekend on exposure and was trying to remember how to set the camera to capture movement.  I guess I was able to do that without blurring the picture too much but then the background looks kind of dark.  So I tried to lighten it up in Photoshop and it looks a little better.   But I wish I could figure out what I needed to do at the moment to not only capture movement but the lighting as well.  Darn!  I am posting to Flickr now so I am hoping to post more pictures to that and to this blog.  It's really time to get back in the swing of things I guess.  And besides, the more I shoot the better I'll become!

Sunday's Assignment

Celebrate the pretty things in life.  Make a photograph of the most beautiful thing you see today.

Haven't seen the sun lately.  Even though it is bitterly cold outside we do need to be reassured that the sun is still there and that pretty soon the temperatures will rise.  I have never been a fan of cold weather and as I age I enjoy it even less.  Took this picture on S with the iso 200 set at 1/640.  I tried automatic and the sky was not quite so dark but noticed that the iso was 100.  Could have experimented more but was too cold.  Ended up changing the contrast in photoshop.

And here are some other assignments that I've done but neglected to post....

How low can you go?  Make a photograph today from a low point of view.

I stayed with this photo even though I had others that were a little more focused.  I like the way the nose is in focus and everything else is blurred.  Can't tell the setting I used other than the iso was 800 and set at f/9.  Don't know if that means I was using A or S!!

Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph.

Funny how the photo looked so much lighter on my little LCD window, although it was getting pretty late in the day.  Now that I look at it I probably should have lightened it up in photoshop.  I tried getting as low as I could which meant I was kneeling on the snow and ice.  The things I do to improve my shoots.  I still don't take into account the things in the picture.  All I did was figure out that I wanted to shoot through the gate and whatever else ended up in the picture was in the picture.  One of these days I'll start looking at the world around me instead of focusing on what is directly in front of me.

Don't know if I used P, S, or A but the iso was 1600 f/4.8 1/800

Monday's Assignment

Make a photograph with a soft look today.

Not much to add here.  Tried to get the dog's face in the picture as he thinks anything that's soft and cuddly is fair game.  Lost count of how many Beanie Babies he's licked to death.  The little bunny in the photo was destined for the same before I pried it from Jax's mouth.  Wanted to add what technical aspects I used when shooting the photo but as soon as the pictures were uploaded they were immediately deleted from my camera.  Had an opportunity to shoot a hawk after I took this picture so I switched the dial to auto.  Didn't want to have to fool around with anything.  But as soon as I went outside the hawk took off.

According to iPhoto my iso is 200, shutter speed was 1/60, and aperture was f/4.5.  Does that mean it was set at automatic?  The last time I make any selection was yesterday when I was shooting outside.  Hmmmm...
